AYO is a product of Basil Family Partners ("Company," "we," "our," or "us"). We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our SMS-based AI assistant service ("AYO" or "the Service").

By using AYO, you consent to the data practices described in this policy.

2. Information We Collect

We collect the following types of information:

  • Phone Number: Required for account registration, SMS communication, and service delivery.
  • Messages: We process messages directed to AYO (those that mention @AYO or trigger the bot) to provide our service. We do NOT read or store messages in your group chat that don't mention AYO.
  • Usage Data: Information about how you interact with AYO, including commands used, features accessed, and timestamps.
  • Device Information: Carrier information and message metadata required for SMS delivery.
  • API Keys: If you provide your own AI provider API keys, they are encrypted using AES-256-GCM and stored securely.

3. Message Retention

Messages processed by AYO are retained for a maximum of 7 days to provide context for ongoing conversations, then automatically and permanently deleted. You can request immediate deletion of your data at any time by contacting us or texting STOP.

4. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, operate, and maintain the AYO service
  • Process your requests and commands via SMS
  • Send you service-related communications and responses
  • Improve and optimize our service
  • Detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, or technical issues
  • Comply with legal obligations

We do NOT sell your personal information. We do not share your phone number or message content with third parties for marketing purposes.

5. SMS Communications

By using AYO, you consent to receive SMS messages from us. Regarding SMS:

  • Message Frequency: Varies based on your usage and requests
  • Message & Data Rates: Standard messaging and data rates from your carrier may apply
  • Opt-Out: Text STOP at any time to stop receiving messages
  • Help: Text HELP for assistance
  • Carriers: Supported carriers include AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, Sprint, and most major US carriers. Carrier participation may vary.

6. Third-Party Services

AYO integrates with third-party services to fulfill your requests:

  • AI Providers: OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, or Groq (based on your configuration) — to generate responses
  • Twilio: For SMS message delivery
  • Service Providers: Yelp, Uber, Lyft, Ticketmaster, and others — when you request specific services

When you use features requiring these services, relevant data is shared with them according to their respective privacy policies. We only share the minimum information necessary to fulfill your request.

7. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including:

  • Encryption of data in transit (TLS/SSL) and at rest
  • Secure API key storage using AES-256-GCM encryption
  • Regular security audits and monitoring
  • Access controls and authentication

However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access: Request a copy of your personal data
  • Deletion: Request deletion of your data
  • Opt-Out: Stop receiving messages by texting STOP
  • Correction: Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Portability: Request export of your data in a portable format

9. California Residents (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to delete your information, and the right to opt-out of the sale of your information. We do not sell personal information.

10. Children's Privacy

AYO is not intended for users under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected information from a child under 13, we will delete it immediately.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
